Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) – Environment, Health and Safety Stewardship Initiative – The CAPP Stewardship Initiative is committed to the continuous improvement and transparent reporting of environmental, health, safety and social performance. The initiative also helps member companies track and trend their environment, health, safety and social performance. Provident has participated in the program since inception, achieving Gold Level status in 2003, and Platinum level status from 2004-2007.

Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) - Energy in Action – Piloted in September 2004, CAPP's Energy in Action program celebrates the upstream petroleum industry's commitment to stewardship principles through community-related activities. Under the program, industry and communities from across Canada unite to participate in educational and environmental renewal activities with the goal of building cooperative and sustained relationships. In 2007, Provident participated in the program by donating money and volunteer time toward beautifying the town of Vauxhall, Alberta. In 2008, Provident will participate in a similar capacity in Carlyle, Saskatchewan and Seven Persons, Alberta.

Environmental Liability – As part of our operations planning, Provident conducted a detailed review of all our assets, and developed a plan to manage our environmental liability. We review our abandonment and reclamation program yearly to determine potential liabilities, and to assess whether our fund is adequate. In 2007, the Province of Alberta awarded Provident 25 reclamation certificates.

Internal Incentives – Provident insists that employees and contractors work safely and be sensitive to the environment at all times. Each year, our field offices host education, health and safety banquets to recognize individual staff for their contributions.

Emergency Response – Provident has a plan in place to respond to any emergency in an effective, timely manner. We conduct regular exercises and information sessions to ensure that emergency response plans remain current and appropriate.
